Too Much Tanning
In light of my leg disaster last week (which is still a disaster btw), and the fact that summer has finally arrived... I have decided to do a small feature on when tanning becomes too much of an issue. I've been looking at some photos that make me glad my mother never let me into tanning beds.
Here's a small list of some the of the most entertaining "tans gone wrong" I enjoy.
I'm just going to go ahead and let you all take in what is most definitely the worst tanned group shot of ALL time:
Another re-offender... Jessica Simpson
2) Jessica Alba
3)Mila Kunis

I dare anyone to tell me it is possible to look worse than this whole group... |
Sorry Christina Aguilera but there was a time that you were a prime target for tan jokes...
eek.... Xtina :( - The Over-Bronze |
Amy Childs - The Over Glow |
Lindsey Lohan - The Whoops I Left My Socks On |
Kelly Ripa - The Spotting |
Jessica Simpson - The Leather Look |
Just to reinforce how terribly bad these tans look, I'm posting my 3 favourite people who tan well...
1) Jennifer Aniston
Always has such a healthy glow |
Never a bad shade... |
Tame, understated & incredibly sexy colour! |
Fun Fact for all you bed goers out there: The International Agency for research on Cancer has said that the risk of melanoma increases by 75% when people begin accelerated tanning before the age of 35.
75%!!!!! Not a small percentage..

Introducing MAN-ic Mondays: Ryan Reynolds
Confession: I always knew good looking guys when I saw them BUT until recently I never really looked twice. Lately, due to my recent single girl mentality, I've found that I pay more attention to the abundance of dreamy guys this world has generously offered...
Mondays generally sneak up unwanted yet we begrudgingly face them every week. To lighten this retched day I've decided to make my Mondays [and yours] more exciting by treating this blog to one absolutely mouth watering HUNK each week!
INTRODUCING MAN-ic MONDAYS :)
These blistering men will come in all sorts of shapes and sizes.
Famous, local, or friends of a friend, as long as these hotties are beautiful well-favored men of our dreams they will make an appearance!
Let's start off with a guy straight from my potential husband list:

On the Sea Wall #2 - FiftyShadesTrilogy
Sexy Books...Sexy legs??
I think from now on I'll try to finish the trilogy keeping ALL my clothes on...
The thing is, these books are being enjoyed by millions of females (and maybe hundreds? of males). I can't get enough of them and I find myself questioning the sanity of myself, our gender and humanity in general. When a control freak narcissist has the potential to turn half the world on through his somewhat sadistic lifestyle, what does this mean?? I won't lie when I say that I have googled at least 20 words in these books. Im learning A LOT to say the least... I think perhaps erotic smut will be my new vice in life.
Two tips have come from this..
1) READ the Fifty Shades Trilogy
2) Wear sunscreen
A few "e-card" after thoughts to leave everyone with about this to-die-for man!...
Last Friday I picked up the whole Fifty Shades trilogy because I have heard many many great things about it, and the famously sex-driven man who graces the pages with his presence. ALSO who wouldn't want to have three erotic sex novels at the tips of their fingers whenever they please??
For the record these books are addicting. I have not been able to put them down. My imagination wanders at the thought of Christian Grey, hoping and praying there is one of him out there for me! ;) After only one week I am well on my way to wrapping up "Fifty Shades Freed". I will admit that I have finally reached a point where I would just like to tell them that they have way too much sex. I wouldn't mind getting through one chapter without being reminded that this is not my life, and that believing I am Anastasia Steele is simply delusional...
Wednesday, while reading on the sea wall, with zero shame, I was forcefully brought back to reality when the sun started going down and my legs began to throb. I realized I had been laying on the same grassy hill for almost 5 hours cherishing time with "my" Christian Grey. Whoops. Turns out the book wasn't the only thing hot i was experiencing.
My legs were fried... hotter than Ana's bum cheeks after a good spanking...

The unfortunate thought that all girls will experience post Fifty Shades... sorry guys |
The unfortunate thought that all girls will experience post Fifty Shades, once they realize the guys with potential weren't nearly as gifted as Christian Grey.... |
oh to endure that silver tie ......... |

On the Sea Wall
I've recently decided that my absolute favourite part about living in Vancouver is the sea wall. I'm going to try to start making personal posts once a week about something that has happened on my sea wall adventures. I was looking through pictures from my time here and there was one day in particular that has inspired me to start this. Em and Nat are two friends that I have become close with since I moved here although Em has since left us to return to Ontario #sadface... we still love her and miss her everyday.
So one day, the week that Em was leaving, we decided to head for a sea wall walk. We ended up spending some time at sunset beach, mostly being the chatty cathys that we are. Then, two young couples asked me to take a picture of them sitting together on one of the logs. I took it and then decided they could return the favour...although let's be honest none of us were looking our finest... Afterwards the couple asked if we wanted the kite they had been flying...UM YES. Moments before this Nat had just been doing this whiney thing she does (that we have grown to love of course) about never flying a kite before. Being the photogenic ladies we are we decide to have a kite shoot on the beach. We took some goofy photos by the water which I am more than excited to share.
In her kite flying glory...

Sorry Lades: BIG News
CONGRATULATIONS to Miley Cryus and Liam Hemsworth on their engagement!!!!
To all the girls whose hearts broke when Chris wasted no time locking down his lucky lady Elsa Pataky…I am deeply sorry! I’m sure you’re experiencing the same pain all over again now that his younger and equally as sexy brother has put a ring on 19 yr old Miley Cyrus!!!
On June 6th Miley tweeted “thank you for all the love
today :) I'm happy to share this news with you all. I feel like all my dreams
are coming true. ❤ have a great day”
Now… I know this
girl takes a lot of grief but I like her. I think she’s a real looker! Who
really cares if she’s still young, she is very accomplished for her age… and
kudos to her for getting what she wants so early in life! Why waste time I
guess… I'm excited to see her wedding style!! AND I’m happy for her even if she did
force me to scratch one of my potential husbands off the list…
As long as Ryan Reynolds doesn’t propose to Blake Lively
anytime soon I’ll survive. J
I wish this beautiful couple many more years of love and
happiness!!!
My CFDA Gems
This past Monday, June 4th the annual CFDA awards show was held in New York City. It was another night full of beautiful people and brilliant dresses! I've spent a few days reading about the best and worst dressed and I have to say while I agree with most... I can't help but wonder why Jessica Stam didn't make the top ten!? In my opinion she was one of my absolute favourite picks from the night. And I'm not even being bias towards the small town girl who grew up a few towns over from me...Shout out to Kindcardine ;)
This year I've been really drawn towards floor length, sleek gowns that having sheer details and/or draping. Something about being feminine but risqué I just find irresistible! The 3 looks I was big into were:
This year I've been really drawn towards floor length, sleek gowns that having sheer details and/or draping. Something about being feminine but risqué I just find irresistible! The 3 looks I was big into were:
3. Zoe Saldana in Prabal Gurung
This black gown looks made for Zoe Saldana. The peek-a-boo cutouts hit her in all the right places! Black is always a classic go-to for such a sleek gown. I love the deep V neckline and personally I think her hair up was the only way to go so that the details on this Prabal Gurung beauty can be truly appreciated.
2. Mandy Moore in Lela Rose
Hidden gem Mandy Moore looks elegant as ever in this Lela Rose goddess-like dress. Something about her just screams confidence...I love love love the embellished shoulders! AND anyone who can wear a dress with shoulder emphasis and not look like a linebacker is beautiful in my books!
1. Jessica Stam in Jason Wu
Okay seriously!? Hiiiii Jessica Stam! I dare you to get sexier! Why have I not been able to find blogs or articles where someone is giving this absolutely stunning woman any acknowledgement! This Jason Wu dress is amazing. The colour...I swear it changes her eyes to the exact same hue! The draping, the sheer, bold colour on black, her hair, her face.... BRAVO!
I get so excited talking about this look and dress I think next time I write about a girl crush it will have to be Jessica Stam!

Carlie Wong Fashion Show
This past Friday, June 1st, I had the pleasure of volunteering at one of my talented professor's beautiful couture runway shows for the charity "Fuck Cancer". http://www.letsfcancer.com/
Carlie Wong put on one of the most gorgeous shows I've seen up close in person :). The show took place at The Urban Winery in Vancouver. All of the proceeds from this incredible evening went towards supporting the F Cancer movement.
Carlie Wong's Atelier Couture Collection: featuring evening wear and bridal was divided into two separate shows. The same models graced the runway for both shows. They had very simple hair; pulled back into a classic and versatile bun. The make up was eye heavy with extreme smokey eye shadow. It sort of reminded me of twiggy only without the over exaggerated lashes.
The first show had a brilliant black, red and gold colour scheme. The draping was fantastic; I remember a class once where Carlie mentioned she really liked draping and I have to say I can see why...she is incredible at it. Fringe detail and embroidery contributed to the feminine beauty of the dresses. I felt like the collection was well balanced. It had so much elegance but also a playful daring presence...the thigh high slits on some dresses and the sheer bottoms of others revealed a somewhat provocative side that I loved! A few of my favourite pieces from show one were:
The second show was bridal couture. I strongly recommend everyone to take a few minutes and check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wVcOz2M-3c. Crisp whites and silver glittered across the runway. There was lots of sparkle and embroidery in this sensational collection. My favourite dress of show number two...actually of the entire evening is below. I love the beautiful structured shoulder emphasis, and the high neckline at the front that drops into a cowl at the back literally took my breathe away!!!
I think it is pretty safe to say that a few pictures do a fantastic job of getting the idea across...BUT even they can't do these wonderful work of art dresses justice!

I'd definitely wear this dress...even with the beading on the sheer fabric going in so far across my bum... I dig it. Photo Credit: Ed Ng Photography |
